Paul Simon and Sting: On Stage Together...

Live Nation Global Touring announced today that Paul Simon & Sting, two of music’s most renowned and enduring artists, will embark on a concert tour throughout North America in February and March 2014. Both of these artists have explored world rhythms and pushed the boundaries of popular music, and through their music, continue to speak to generations of fans. Now, Paul Simon & Sting will perform a series of concerts On Stage Together. Tickets (itinerary below) will go on sale beginning Tuesday, November 12.

As friends for many years, their collaboration on a tour is a natural fit. At each performance, audiences will be treated to the unique pleasure of experiencing these two innovative musicians On Stage Together, in addition to solo performances with their respective bands, in what will surely be one of the most highly-anticipated concert events of 2014.

In the continuing sitcom that is popular music - and also in real life - Sting and Paul Simon once lived in the same building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, they recalled in a recent telephone conversation. "For 20 years, this guy would be borrowing things all the time," Sting said, in a tone of mocking complaint. "Then I heard he was a songwriter." Mr. Simon responded with similar facetiousness, "As soon as he got a chance, he moved up, hierarchically, into more elite buildings." Now these improbable former neighbors are about to become unlikely tour mates. On Tuesday, Sting and Mr. Simon are to announce that they will appear together on a North American tour, during which they will perform several of their best-known songs individually and as a duo. Eighteen dates are scheduled from Feb. 8 through March 16, with additional dates expected to be announced...

Sting performed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) gala honouring the film director Martin Scorsese on November 2 at a star sudded event that was attended by a host of celebrities including Jane Fonda, Warren Beatty, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kate Hudson, Robert Downey Jr. and Salma Hayek. Sting's mini-set included 'Every Breath You Take', Englishman In New York', 'Fields Of Gold', 'Desert Rose' and 'Message In A Bottle' and he was also joined by Chris Botti.
