Sting to perform at Musikteatret’s Open Air Concert in Denmark, June 2019...

December 05, 2018

This year, Musikteatret Holstebro is able to present no less than Sting at the summer’s first Open Air concert on Friday, 21 June. The concert is part of Sting’s “My Songs” tour focusing on the most popular and loved songs from the British legend. He has brought his iconic performances to Denmark several times, but never before has the British legend performed in West Jutland. Musikteatret Holstebro is now changing this: Come summer, you can experience the 67-year old musician live at the year’s first Open Air concert on 21 June in the centre of Holstebro.

“It is something of a scoop that we are able to present Sting at our Open Air concert this year. With 16 Grammy Awards, almost 100 million albums sold and more than 40 years as a professional musician behind him, it is easy to call Sting an icon of the music world,” says director of Musikteatret, Anders Jørgensen.

The concert is part of Sting’s “My Songs” tour, which is described as a rolling, dynamic show focusing on the most loved songs written by Sting. The songs will span Sting’s entire formidable career with The Police and as a solo artist.

Fans can expect to hear “Englishman In New York,” “Fields Of Gold,” “Shape Of My Heart,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne,” “Message In A Bottle” and many more of the most popular and loved hits – with Sting accompanied by an electric, rock ensemble. It will be an extraordinary celebration in Holstebro,” says Anders Jørgensen.

Anders Jørgensen is very pleased that the initiative Musikteatret took last year with Open Air, has now been given a boost this year.

“Sharing experiences today is more important than ever. We clearly see this in all the activities we deal with; when we organise events in the theatre and, for example, when we present films or football matches on the big screen. Organising major concerts in the centre of town where people find themselves on a daily basis provides some opportunities that do not exist elsewhere. So with Sting at our back, we are looking forward to creating even more hype about the Open Air concert,” he says.

Same concept as last year...

Just like last summer, Trillingsgaard square will be completely enclosed and Musikteatret will ensure that the option of purchasing meals and refreshments in the area is possible.

“We are in full swing planning the rest of the Open Air programme, but unfortunately we cannot reveal anything yet except that it will take place over two days – 21 and 22 June. And this year it will, once again, be a celebration of note. We are looking very much forward to creating plenty of life and festivities on the square in front of Musikteatret, but also to see Sting and the other musicians giving it full throttle in front of the many spectators. In all modesty, we believe we have created a really amazing concept for the Open Air concerts,” says Anders Jørgensen.
