Sting gave two magical nights at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus...

Sting gave us two more unforgettable and moving concerts at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus as part of the Athens-Epidaurus Festival.

On the evening of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th July, the great artist, on his return under the light of the Acropolis and the starry Athenian sky, was enchanting. Full of energy, the British music legend was adored by all who flooded the Herodion.

After introducing Giordana Angi, who provided the concert's spark until the crowd took their seats in the stands of the Roman theater, Sting appeared on stage with his guitar and was flanked by Dominic Miller, his permanent guitarist for the last few decades, and drummer Chris Maas, in their first collaboration, which seemed from day one to bring excellent results.

With Sting's melodic, dynamic and extremely familiar voice, the new arrangements of his well-known songs thrilled the fans of the huge artist, who had waited three years to enjoy him again.

From "Message in a bottle", "King of pain" and "Every breath you take" from his early years with the Police, to "Englishman in New York", "Shape of my heart" and "Desert rose" from his solo career, Sting left no one complaining.

Even more so when he returned to the stage at the end to perform the iconic "Roxanne" and "Fragile", making the audience bow with a standing ovation lasting several minutes, to one of the greatest musicians of our time.

The defining moment of the two-day set came after "Can't Stand," when Sting invited the man who inspired him to pursue music to join him on stage.

The former frontman of the Animals and the forefather of rock music who needs no introduction. The huge Eric Burdon was at his friend's side and together they performed the legendary "Spill the wine", from the album "Eric Burdon declares War", in front of the astonished audience, who found themselves in a, if nothing else, historic moment.
