Singer Sting set the Lovely Brive Festival stage ablaze...
The Lovely Brive Festival hosted Sting this Thursday, July 11th, for its 20th anniversary. A major first for the Corrèze event, which has gradually carved out its niche over the past 20 years, from Brive-Page to the Lovely Brive Festival.
The crowd was packed. It was almost impossible to make it to the main stage. For its 20th anniversary, the Lovely Brive Festival hosted Sting to open its 2024 edition this Thursday. This was the first time the British singer had graced the stage set up in the heart of the Parc des Trois Provinces. A concert that delighted the large crowd.
There are 15,000 people this Thursday evening, stamping their feet impatiently in front of the stage. Adrien, a young 22-year-old landscaper, stands on tiptoe to try to catch a glimpse of the stage: "It's electric right now. Everyone can't wait to see Sting." Suddenly, the lights go out, silence falls. Sting appears in front of the crowd to loud applause. The iconic songs follow one after the other, like "English Man in New York" and "Shape of my Heart." Cathy can't believe her eyes. "It's amazing! We're having a blast. He's wonderful. Honestly, Sting in Brive is crazy!" she exclaims, all smiles. The fifty-year-old came with friends. Magali is part of the group. Faced with her idol, she feels like she's taken a leap back in time 30 years. "I feel like I'm 16 again," she confides, moved.
The festival opened around 7:00 p.m., in a thunderstorm. Annie Lalalove and Imani opened the festival. Big names will follow on Friday evening with Grand Corps Malade and Nuit Incolore. Patrick Bruel, Santa, and Bob Sinclar will also be performing between now and Sunday. It's all these big names in French and international music that lead Clémentine Fréchinos to say that the Lovely Brive Festival has found its niche. "It's a small festival that has become big," she proudly states. The event's communications and sales promotion director also highlights the loyalty of festival-goers over the past 10 to 15 years.
Sting's concert ended with the strains of the legendary song "Roxanne." Enough to get the fans going one last time, and they left with memories full of memories.
