Sting rocked the Planai Stadium...
Part two of the three-day ski opening in the Schladming-Dachstein region was also a resounding success. After a mostly rocking evening with Bryan Adams, British superstar Sting took over the musical reins at the Planai Stadium. Despite the wintry temperatures, he delivered much warmer sounds and created a fantastic atmosphere for the approximately 9,500 spectators.
SCHLADMING. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner is currently touring the world with his “Sting 3.0” tour. The 71-year-old musician presented a special show in Schladming. Together with Dominic Miller on guitar and drummer Chris Maas, who has also played for bands like Mumford & Sons, Sting immersed himself in his extensive repertoire.
For the many die-hard fans, the absolute highlights were, of course, all-time hits like “Englishman in New York,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “Walking On The Moon.” “Roxanne” and “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” also had the crowd singing along. A more reflective and relaxed atmosphere prevailed with the quieter sounds of “Desert Rose.” The fans at the Planai Stadium were thrilled by the versatility of the English singer, who was supported by the Austrian artists Anna-Sophie and Alexander Eder.
“Compared to previous years, it’s clear that the three concerts are leading to longer stays in the region, and the typical ski-opening visitor is no longer just a day-tripper,” reports the Schladming-Dachstein Tourism Association. Concertgoers often stay in the region for up to three nights because they attend several concerts. "This is an important factor for the entire region, as it generates exceptionally high added value right at the start of the season. The approximately eleven million euros in demand boost achieved last year with Robbie Williams could well be surpassed this year," the statement continues.
