Police and Fergie prove arresting...

It has been more than 20 years, but The Police left Adelaide fans Walking On The Moon last night as they rocked Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Supported by pop superstar Fergie who warmed the crowd with her chart topping singles including 'Big Girls Don't Cry' and 'Glamorous' it was her rock medley including Led Zeppelin's 'Black Dog' that left the older members of the crowd with their jaws on the floor.

Not only did Fergie show that she has what it takes to support a band as iconic as The Police, she embraced it.

When the lights dimmed and the chords of 'Message In A Bottle' rang out it did not seem at all that this band had spent anytime apart.

The band's tight sound, much like frontman Sting, has aged very well.

With a colourful light show and big screen backing, it's safe to say the Entertainment Centre did a fantastic job of hosting this supergroup rather than the proposed AAMI Stadium.

Running through a barage of hits, including 'Every Little Thing She Does is Magic' and 'Walking On The Moon' the band were joined on stage for the very first time by Fergie for a rendition of their classic 'Don't Stand So Close to Me'.

Whilst it was a sight to see - the past and present of music royalty working together, Fergie 's microphone was too low (if on at all) to hear her contribution to the song.

It was right back into business for the three piece after the cameo with the band pulling plenty of aces on the 8000-strong crowd.

Closers 'Roxanne', 'So Lonely' and 'Every Breath You Take' showed that The Police unlike many bands who reform for a new album, have reuntied to celebrate the music that still dazzles us after 25 years.

Last night's performance was one of the greatest reunion shows Adelaide has seen and with tickets still available for tonight's show, I for one will be looking at experiencing the Police all over again for possibly the last time.
